Since moving to our new location in 2017, our Education Program at 30 Hazelwood Drive has been without an outdoor playground. We have been actively fundraising to reach our goal to purchase and install a site secure, supervised and fully accessible therapeutic playground.
We did it! Thank you to everyone who has supported this campaign. We are excited to break ground soon!
A playground can provide numerous benefits for autistic children. Besides the physical benefits, the playground will foster social interactions that support and enhance social skills that are vital for increasing independence. Ancillary benefits include the playground being another opportunity for addressing sensory needs, communication, behavior management and social activities.
The playground will be used by approximately 120 children in our school and on-site respite program.
We are still accepting donations to cover any unexpected costs.
