OCTOBER 5 | FALL WORKSHOP

Using Nutrition to Improve Language,Learning, & Mood in ASD: What every parent & therapist should know.
Presented by Kelly Dorfman, M.S. LND.
Saturday, October 5, 2019 – 8:45 am – 12:45 pm, Classics V Conference and Banquet Center
Ms. Dorfman is a licensed clinical nutritionist with over 30 years of clinical experience, and teaches at John Hopkins University as an adjunct faculty member. She specializes in targeted nutrition therapy to address complex medical problems in children, and is the author of Cure Your Child with Food. In addition, Ms. Dorfman is an international lecturer as well as a professional member of the Autism Think Tank New Jersey. She has been featured on CNN’s American Morning, as well as in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post and Oprah magazine.

APRIL 6| ASI/ASWNY SPRING WORKSHOP: ASD: Emerging Sexuality & Safety Across the Lifespan

Join us for our Spring Workshop on Saturday, April 6, 2019 featuring Dr. Lori Jeanne Peloquin, Licensed Psychologist.
This workshop will provide an understanding of emerging sexuality in individuals with autism and other development disabilities across the lifespan, including the importance of addressing these issues long before puberty and adolescence. Registration required.

MARCH 30 | OPENING RECEPTION: SPECTRUM LANGUAGE

Spectrum Language features four artists with autism whose vital expressions of personally meaningful subjects invite the viewer to explore the very concept of language itself.

FEBRUARY 1 | OPENING RECEPTION: CHAZ BUSCAGLIA RECENT PORTRAITS

Join us from 5-8 pm to open Chaz’s show
Chaz Buscaglia’s interest in drawing began at an early age. As a child, he enjoyed making his own books out of copier paper, stapling sheets together and filling each page with his drawings, often drawings about music or musical instruments. Music continues to be an avid interest; in particular, the artist is a devotee of jazz, classic soul and R&B, and The Beach Boys. Exhibit on view by appointment through February 22.

Join us at 6:30 pm with Jessica Sills from We Rock the Spectrum
Jessica is a Speech Pathologist who also runs We Rock the Spectrum, a sensory gym. She will be coming to the center to discuss the importance of meeting sensory needs first for individuals with autism, as well as provide strategies on how parents can meet these needs in the home environment. Join us at 6:30 pm with Alanna Lipinski, licensed psychologist at The Summit Center Behavioral Pediatrics Clinic
The teenage years are tough – with or without autism. Alanna will discuss the teenage years and how having an autism spectrum disorder factors into this stage of life. JUNE 2 | RUN THE ‘BURG

Run the Burg for AutismA fun 5K walk/run to support ASI’s Resource Center in Hamburg
The USATF/RRTC certified race course winds through the heart of the Village of Hamburg. Pre-race registration and a post-race celebration will be held at J.P. Fitzgerald’s Restaurant located at 4236 Clark Street in Hamburg, just a few paces from the start and finish lines. The post-race celebration will include food, drink, live music and a supervised kid’s zone throughout the afternoon for those participating in the Run/Walk or anyone else simply interested in supporting the cause. Think BIG: The Arts of Autism Services

ASI partners with Paula’s Donuts for Autism Acceptance
All Paula’s Donuts locations will donate $1 from every dozen purchased to Autism Services. Additionally, you can score a free donut by bringing in a Wish List item to benefit our Education Program – items requested include glue sticks, lamination sheets, dry erase markers, crayons or 1″ binders.
